At A Glance

Our Origin

"Ormoc City, Leyte and Malandog City, Antique, the places where we were born. Separated by islands and miles of seas in between... how in the world did we end up together?"

Baggy was born in 1971, and Kathy was born in 1973.

"It wouldn't be until 17 years later when we would meet each other..." behind the scenes..

The University

"Not to be dissuaded by the seemingly difficulty of the subject, we both decided to take Physics as our majors as we entered the premier institution of learning, the University of the Philippines."

Thanks to the encouragement of his high school advisers and family, Baggy found his way to UP in 1988. A year later, Kathy entered the same university and took up the same course.

"Perhaps from then on our fate was sealed?!! Need we add that we actually had our first conversation in the library? Nerds!"

The Graduates

"Who could have imagined that we would actually finish our courses in time?"

Baggy got his BS degree five years later, in 1993. Kathy finished hers in 1994.

"Not yet satisfied in 5 years of nerdiness, we both decided to pursue our masteral degrees while teaching courses in undergraduate Physics."

The Beginning

"The beginning of our special friendship began the day Baggy started growing his hair. Everybody hated his tousled hair, growing in all sorts of different directions. But then he did achieve his goal of catching my attention."

Moving On

"We just couldn't resist the lure of going outside the country to experience other cultures and way of life, so we decided to pursue our doctoral degrees in Japan."

But by some cruel twist of fate, Baggy got accepted to Osaka University while Kathy got accepted to Yamagata University. Thus began the long-distance love affair... staying together, apart

No, this is not the end, merely the beginning..

After three years of bearing the winter-cold harshness of Yamagata, Kathy successfully defended her thesis and was awarded the coveted doctoral degree in 1999 (and finally overtaking Baggy). Not to be easily overtaken, Baggy got his degree a mere six months after.
